Matthew R. Stumpf, ATC, FF/EMT has been appointed by the governor to fill the empty EMT seat on the Louisiana EMS Certification Commission. Stumpf is a Teacher at Doyle High School in the Technical Education Program. He is Dual certified to teach not only in the EMS curricula, but is an NCCER Instructor of welding as well. He is one of the first public school educators to be appointed to this commission. He is also a Firefighter for the Town of Livingston Fire Department.

The Louisiana Emergency Medical Services Certification is comprised of twelve voting members appointed by the governor. EMSCC has the power and duty to, among other things, establish and publish standards of out-of-hospital practice, regulate the scope of practice of Emergency Medical Services Practitioners, discipline and regulate the practice of Emergency Medical Services Practitioners, and establish standards for education programs preparing individuals for out-of-hospital practice.

I would like to strengthen the voice of the public school student and attempt to meet their needs at the bureau of EMS.“
